I recently decided to scale things back. Life is busy at the moment, both at work and at home and I’m finding less and less time for personal projects and other things online.
I recently deactivated my Twitter account, primarily because I simply wasn’t using it – I was just using it so that I could be twitter.com/MikeOnslow… God forbid anyone else could have that address, it’s my name… But then I thought, “what’s the point? What difference does it make?”
I also closed down my Google Plus profile because, well why did anyone even have them in the first place? I never used it and it was an unnecessary online presence in a time when it seems beneficial to have as smaller internet footprint as possible.
I did toy with shutting this website down, because I don’t really use it and no one reads it anyway, but I’ll keep it up for the time being. It’s nice to have somewhere to vent.
I am also letting many of my domain names expire. Over the years I’ve set up a large number of website’s for various personal projects, but with no time to really do anything on these any more, they serve little purpose other than to cost me a few quid a year in domain and hosting fees.
ClaretArmy.co.uk will, of course, continue. I love running this website and trying to offer my own perspective on the goings on at Chelmsford City, even if there is little in the way of reward for doing so.
I’ve started running again having been struggling from a back injury for the last 4 months. It’s great to get back out there and whilst I’m not covering massive distances, I’ve done 3-4km a day, 6 days this week and am looking to continue at that rate, hopefully increasing the distance, as I move forward.
Having previously been very active with football, squash, running and the gym before my injury, I’ve really struggled having to drop all that, so I’m really looking forward to getting back into it.
